Affiliate Tracking live on all Flipkart Mobile Apps (Android/ iOS/ Windows)

Dear Affiliate Partner,

We have got some great news for you- apart from the desktop website (www.flipkart.com) and mobile website (m.flipkart.com), Affiliate Tracking for Flipkart purchases has now been made live on all 3 of Flipkart’s Mobile Apps (Android/ iOS/ Windows) effective immediately. This is a industry first for an Indian affiliate program and opens up another Flipkart platform wherein our affiliate partners can earn commission revenues for the sales happening on Flipkart’s Mobile Apps too.

To make this live from your end and to ensure that sales are tracked on Flipkart’s Mobile Apps, a minor change would be required to be done in all the existing Flipkart affiliate links/urls present on your websites/ blogs/ mobile apps. You need to add /dl parameter in all the Flipkart affiliate urls just after http://www.flipkart.com to ensure tracking of affiliate sales on Flipkart’s mobile apps. Say for affiliate id- test, a normal affiliate url would be- http://www.flipkart.com/offers?affid=testwhich would track affiliate sales on Flipkart’s desktop website as well as mobile website. To ensure affiliate sales are tracked on Flipkart’s mobile apps too, you need to add /dl and create a smart affiliate url like this-http://www.flipkart.com/dl/offers?affid=test which would ensure affiliate sales are tracked on all 3 platforms of Flipkart (Desktop Website, Mobile Website, Mobile Apps).

At our end, we have made the “/dl” parameter live at all places in the affiliate account from where you pick up/ generate affiliate links:-

• Affiliate Link Generator available in affiliate account [We strongly suggest our affiliate partners to use this tool to generate affiliate links rather than creating it manually]
• Product Feeds (‘productURL’ column) and Offer Feeds (‘offerUrl’ column) in the CSV files [Download section in affiliate account]
• API product feeds (product urls)
• URLs of all Affiliate Widgets available in affiliate account

In case you are manually creating affiliate links by appending/ suffixing the affid to any Flipkart links/urls (home page, category pages, offer pages, product pages), ensure that you also add the/dl parameter just after http://www.flipkart.com while creating the affiliate links (In case of normal affiliate links without the /dl parameter, affiliate sales will still be tracked on Flipkart’s desktop website and mobile website but will not be tracked on Flipkart’s Mobile Apps).

Examples of smart affiliate links (affid- test) which will ensure tracking on Flipkart’s Mobile Apps too:

• Home page- http://www.flipkart.com/dl?affid=test
• Offers page- http://www.flipkart.com/dl/offers?affid=test
• Category page- http://www.flipkart.com/dl/computers/laptops?sid=6bo,b5g&affid=test
• Product page- http://www.flipkart.com/dl/nike-dewired-premium-sneakers/p/itmdzthskkpuquue?pid=SHODZAR2PD9YKHRH&affid=test

In case you are appending/ suffixing the sub id parameters (affExtParam1 and affExtParam2) too at the end of Flipkart affiliate links/urls, it’ll be done the same way as before (eg:http://www.flipkart.com/dl/nike-dewired-premium-sneakers/p/itmdzthskkpuquue?pid=SHODZAR2PD9YKHRH&affid=test&affExtParam1=AX2670&affExtParam2=7890 )

Process-flow for Affiliate Tracking :

When a user clicks on a normal affiliate url:

• Desktop Website: Affiliate tracking will happen as is happening now.
• Mobile Website: Affiliate tracking will happen as is happening now.
• Mobile Apps: Affiliate tracking will NOT happen.

When a user clicks on a smart affiliate url (with /dl in the url):

• If the user is on desktop device, affiliate tracking will happen as is happening now on desktop website.
• If the user is on mobile device:
  • In case Flipkart App is NOT installed, the user will be directed to Flipkart's mobile website and affiliate tracking will happen as is happening now.
  • In case Flipkart App is installed but the specific webpage (as per the affiliate link) is NOT supported in the mobile apps, the user will be directed to Flipkart's mobile website and affiliate tracking will happen as is happening now.
  • In case Flipkart App is installed and the specific webpage (as per the affiliate link) is supported in the mobile apps, then the user is automatically directed to the mobile apps (Android/ iOS/ Windows) and s/he lands on that specific home/ category/ product page (as per the affiliate link) in Flipkart's mobile app. Affiliate tracking on Mobile Apps would be as below:-

The following scenarios are covered for affiliate tracking on Mobile Apps:

• Visitor entering the app as guest and purchasing without login (guest check-out)
• Visitor entering the app as guest and logging in to purchase
• Visitor is already logged in the app and makes a purchase

This is the only scenario when the affiliate tracking will NOT happen on Mobile Apps:

• Visitor came to the app through affiliate url, logged into the app, and without buying anything s/he logged out of the app. Then he came back again directly to the app (even within the 24 hour window period) and made a purchase.
